Know the usual dry areas

Cabinets, utility rooms, ceilings, basements and appliance connections are easier to monitor when their normal condition is known.

Record changes quickly

Date photos of staining, swelling, dampness or recurring condensation.

Use shutoff knowledge responsibly

Know where owner-accessible water shutoffs are, but do not dismantle unfamiliar plumbing or pressurized systems.

Escalate active leaks

Ongoing water entry, sewage, hidden leakage or damage near electrical equipment needs prompt professional attention.
